Jodie Harrison Junior Basketball League


This 5-game league is the perfect way to introduce your child to basketball and get them excited for our Jodie Harrison Basketball League! This league will emphasize learning the rules and fundamentals of basketball. No score is kept, and everyone is a winner! All players will receive a t-shirt and medal. One practice and one game per week commitment. Breakaway Basketball coaches will lead team practices with the help of volunteer coaches and will ref all games. This league is for Kindergarten and 1st grade. 


Registration will open with our fall brochure in August.

Important Dates:

9/28 – Coaches meeting at 6:00pm at The Community House
10/1 – Price increase for last minute registrations
10/7- Schedules and rosters released online
10/9- Last day for refunds
10/11 – Practices begin
10/22-Games begin
11/5 – Picture Day
11/19- Last day of games

All games and practices will be played at The Community House or area schools. Practices begin the week of October 11th and finish before Thanksgiving week. All participants will be required to bring their own basketball (27.5). Breakaway Basketball will lead team practices with the help of volunteer parent coaches. Team schedules will be released October 7th.

Tentative practice days and times (no guaranteed time slots)

Kindergarten – Tuesdays 4-5pm, Thursdays 4-5pm, Thursdays 5-6pm
1st grade – Tuesdays 5-6pm, Tuesdays 6-7pm, Thursdays 5-6pm

All games will be played at The Community House or area schools. Each team will play one game on Saturday’s. Each team is guaranteed 5 games. Games begin in October 22nd and finish November 19th . Schedules will be released October 7th.

Team Selection:
The Recreation Supervisor will select all teams. Teams are co-ed. Placement requests will not be taken; we appreciate your attention to this detail. Every effort will be made to place individuals from the same school on a team together. However, this is not guaranteed. Rosters will be released October 7th.

We guarantee that all coaches kids are placed on their team and there will be some kids on your roster from your child’s school. There is a high chance your child will be playing with kids from another school. We do not guarantee any team placement requests and we do not guarantee an entire team of kids from the same school. We give every effort to make fair teams for all children involved in the league.
