Jodie Harrison Junior Basketball League

This league is for Kindergarten and 1st grade kids.This 5-game league is the perfect way to introduce your child to basketball and get them excited for Jodie Harrison! This league will emphasize learning the rules and fundamentals of basketball. No score is kept and everyone is a winner! All players will receive a t-shirt and medal. One practice and one game per week commitment and the season goes through mid-October through late November.


Breakaway Basketball coaches will lead team practices and ref games with the help of volunteer coaches.
Volunteer Coaches are needed!  A coaches’ meeting will be held Tuesday October 5th, at 6:15pm at The Community House. Email to volunteer coach.



The Community follows all State and Local guidelines in their entirety. This league will follow all indoor youth sports guidelines.

All Sports Policy as of 8/10/21
Masks are required during games and practices while playing
– For sports played indoors, individuals aged two years and older who can medically tolerate a mask, regardless of
vaccination status, must wear a mask and maintain physical distancing to the extent possible.
-All spectators, regardless of vaccination status, should wear a mask in attendance at indoor youth sports events

September 29th- Volunteer Coaches meeting at 6:30pm
October 7- Rosters and schedules available online
October 11- First Week of Practices
October 23rd- First Game
November 13- Picture Day
November 20- Last Game
Practice begins the week of 10/11 and are 1 hour each, 1 day a week. Practices are lead by Breakaway Basketball coaches with the help of Volunteer Parent Coaches. We do NOT guarantee a specific practice day/time.
This schedule is subject to change but is general idea of practice day/times.
Kindergarten: TU or TH, 4-5pm
1st grade: TU 5-6pm, TU 6-7pm, or TH 5-6pm
Games take place at The Community House starting 10/23-11/20, every Saturday. Games fall between 9am-2pm. Volunteer Coaches ref all games.
All games and practices will be played at The Community House or area schools.

Team Selection:
The Recreation Supervisor will select all teams. Teams are co-ed. Placement requests will not be taken; we appreciate your attention to this detail. Every effort will be made to place individuals from the same school on a team together. However, this is not guaranteed.

We guarantee that all coaches kids are placed on their team and there will be some kids on your roster from your child’s school. There is a high chance your child will be playing with kids from another school. We do not guarantee any team placement requests and we do not guarantee an entire team of kids from the same school. We give every effort to make fair teams for all children involved in the league.
