Coffee and Conversations:
A networking, support and education group offered each month and open to adults who are involved in the life of the child on the spectrum and their family. Join us for “conversations” as we focus being in building supportive relationships, sharing information about resources and sharing the journey of being involved in the life of a child on the autism spectrum.
Sibshops is a program nationally known for the opportunity to bring the brother and sisters of children with special needs together to meet, play, learn and support each other. The Sibshop model is a mixture of information sharing, discussion and lively games/activities; all with the goals of peer-to-peer support. Sibshops are held on a monthly basis for kids 1st – 5th grade, on Saturday mornings for 9:30am-12:00pm.
Live and Learn:
Education is the primary resource to promote a deeper understanding of how to acknowledge and build upon the strengths of children on the spectrum, and to address the challenges they face. Education is paramount to enabling parents to making informed decisions about interventions, resources and life planning and empowering them to utilize available supports and resources to strengthen the functioning of not only the child, but the family unit.
Live and Learn is a series of quarterly educational presentations for adults involved in the life of a child on the spectrum. Speakers will be brought in to present on topics such as, but not limited to, executive functioning, planning for the future, addressing the social emotional needs of adolescents, using technology to promote growth and learning, and helping your child succeed in community settings.
