Stephanie Seppanen Volunteer of the Year
The Community House is honored to award Stephanie Seppanen with the 2022 Katharine Van Dusen Sylvester Service Award.
Stephanie’s involvement with The Community House began with her first performance in the Community Revue, Addicted to Hinsdale, after moving to our fair village in 2011. Stephanie connected with many long-time TCH Trustees while rekindling a childhood passion for musical theater. Since then Stephanie has been in four more Revues, and makes mental notes on Hinsdale life to contribute writing ideas for future songs and scenes. She chaired the Walk the Walk for Mental Health from 2016 to 2018, with a focus on engagement between local schools walking the walk.
“I’ve lived many places, but my engagement with The Community House has always made Hinsdale feel like home”, she said.
Stephanie joined the Board of Trustees in 2017, the Executive Board in 2019 and became Social Services Committee Chair in 2020. In addition to her leadership roles, she also actively volunteers as a staff therapist in the Counseling Center, spending much of her time with D86 students in the Bridge program. Her entire family is involved with TCH and her three sons have enjoyed Jodie Harrison Basketball, youth theater and Fortnightly.
“We all know that there is an ever growing need for dedicated volunteers in our community as a need for services has soared. We are honored to recognize and congratulate Stephanie Seppanan, who has donated her time, faced the challenge head-on and made a significant impact for over a decade. We are so appreciative of her service to our community,” said Dan Janowick, The Community House Executive Director.
