Tiny Toes Music

April 2020 Class Information

Welcome to our Spring semester of Music Together! We can’t wait to sing and dance with you and your family.

Tiny Toes Music and The Community House holds the safety and well-being of our friends, family, and community foremost in our hearts and minds. At this point, it’s impossible to tell when we’ll be able to gather together again. Our Spring Semester will begin as planned on April 5 from the comfort of our homes. It’s important to remember that what we are doing in our communities is practicing social distancing, NOT isolation. We’re focusing on what we CAN do, thinking creatively, and supporting young children’s development. Getting families singing and dancing as a family at home is really our goal each week at Tiny Toes Music, so in a way nothing has changed! Wondering what that will look like?

As an enrolled family in Tiny Toes Music’s Spring Semester, each week you will receive:

  • Zoom classes with your favorite Tiny Toes Music teachers at regular times seven days a week. Yes, seven days a week! And you can come to as many as you like! We’ll add more times if needed to keep up with demand.

Weekly Schedule

    • Sunday at noon- Miss Shannon
    • Monday at 9:15 a.m.- Miss Lindsey
    • Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.- Miss Beth

  • A Wednesday email with educational content, ideas to make the music your own at home, dance party suggestions, and more!
  • Download codes to stream the music of the Maracas Collection as well as a pdf of the songbook. When it’s safe to do so, we’ll distribute CD’s and songbooks.

Here’s how you’ll log in once you are enrolled:

  • Create an account at tinytoesmusic.com. It’s very possible you’ve already done this. If so, wait until we’ve confirmed your enrollment and granted you “Level 2 Access” in the Family Portal. If you have trouble with this step, send us an email at info.tinytoesmusic@gmail.com and we’ll help you out.
  • Click on Family Portal and explore! It’s here that you’ll see links for Zoom Classes each week. And once the classes have been recorded, we’ll upload them here for you to watch later. You’ll also see a chat room that you can use to communicate with other Tiny Toes Music families.
  • Follow the links each week to attend class:
    • Sunday at noon- Miss Shannon

Tips for participating in class:

      • Your microphone will be muted when you arrive. If there’s not many of you and you can talk without delay, go ahead and turn your microphone on and say Hello! Once ten or more people join, please keep your microphone on mute until after The Goodbye Song. You can then unmute and say hi to the teacher of the day.
      • If you are not comfortable being recorded or seen during class, simply turn off your video. You can also “Hide Self View” and we won’t see your screen!
      • To see all the people in the class, toggle Gallery View. To focus on the instructor, toggle Speaker View.
      • Zoom is free for everyone to use! Test it out with your friends and family members so you’re comfortable during class.
      • If you’re having trouble streaming, turn off the wi-fi on other devices in your home. Or, call your internet service provider and see what your options are! I was able to double my speed and reduce my costs this month.
      • Over time we’ll add content- coloring pages, prerecorded songs, and ideas to play at home

What about materials and once the class is moved back to The Community House?

In order to follow orders to stay at home and maintain social distance, we will not be distributing physical Music Together materials for these classes until it is deemed safe to do so.

Once it’s deemed safe to go back into buildings and gather together, we will begin to transition into physical classes again, while still offering online classes each week. By continuing to offer virtual classes at that time, your family will be able to make the decision when to join us in person.
